Protecting Our Future: Montgomery County's Commitment to Lead Safety

Welcome to Montgomery County's Rental Registry Initiative!
As part of New York State's proactive approach to eliminate lead exposure, Montgomery County is proud to participate in the Lead Rental Registry Program starting in the Summer/Fall of 2025. This initiative is crucial in safeguarding our community, especially our youngest members, from the dangers of lead poisoning associated with older rental properties.

What We're Doing:
  • Inspecting and Certifying: All pre-1980 rental properties in Montgomery County will undergo thorough inspections to ensure they are free of lead-based paint hazards.
  • Educating and Training: Landlords and contractors will receive the necessary training to manage lead-safe renovations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Supporting Property Owners: With the help of state funding, we're here to assist property owners in meeting these new requirements through financial and technical support.

Join us in this essential work to create a healthier, lead-safe environment for all our residents. Together, we can make a significant impact!
