Stay Informed, Stay Safe – Learn How We Address Key Diseases
Chickenpox
Chickenpox is a highly contagious viral infection that causes an itchy rash and flu-like symptoms. We offer vaccination programs and public education to prevent outbreaks and provide resources for managing symptoms and preventing the spread.
STDs/STIs
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and infections (STIs) are transmitted through sexual contact and can have serious health impacts if untreated. Our department provides testing, treatment options, and educational resources to promote safe practices and early intervention.
Mumps, Measles, and Rubella (MMR)
Mumps, measles, and rubella are viral infections that can lead to severe complications. We promote vaccination through community programs and offer guidance on managing symptoms and preventing these diseases through immunization.
Foodborne Illnesses
Foodborne illnesses, like salmonella, are caused by consuming contaminated food. We conduct surveillance, offer educational resources on safe food handling, and work to ensure the safety of food supplies in our community.
Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus)
Pertussis and RSV are respiratory infections that can be particularly severe in infants and young children. Our services include vaccination programs, public health education, and support for managing and preventing these infections.
Tuberculosis (TB)
TB is a bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs and can spread through the air. We provide testing, treatment, and education to manage and control TB within the community.
Waterborne Diseases
Waterborne diseases are caused by pathogens transmitted through contaminated water. We monitor water quality, offer educational resources on safe water practices, and work to prevent and manage outbreaks.
Lyme Disease
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by black-legged ticks. Common in wooded or grassy areas, it often begins with symptoms such as fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic rash. Early diagnosis and treatment with antibiotics are crucial to prevent serious complications.
